Highway Burford

We had a fantastic night away at The Highway Burford. The check in was smooth and welcoming outlining all the amenities and guest pantry! The brownies were an incredible late snack. The bed was exceptional, I haven’t slept so well in a long time. We had an amazing breakfast and nothing was too much trouble. We will 100% be back.

Having stayed at many different hotels in The Cotswolds, we were incredibly impressed with Highway. The hotel is the sister of the Bell which is directly adjacent. The staff here could not be nicer, it’s run by a relatively small team of incredibly friendly people that will go out of their way to make your stay brilliant. The rooms are spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. We stayed in the Gold room which is directly above the entrance, we had no issues at all with noise and the super king bed was so comfortable. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant both mornings and dinner on the Friday night. The food is exceptional for a hotel restaurant, people actually come from far to eat here as the chefs are very talented. All round one of our favourite Cotswolds stays in the last few years, a definite staple hotel for future stays. Thanks to all the team. Special mention to Alex in the bar, she’s an incredible cocktail mixologist and we spent a good part of the night chatting away with her!

This review is specifically for the restaurant Toro. Wow what an incredible meal! The Chicken Croquetas and Roasted Pumpkin were two of my favorite bites during my trip. Really sweet staff and love the vibe of the restaurant. Super cozy and warm!

Incredible service and beautiful hotel...! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially loved the comfortable beds and mood lighting in the rooms. Impeccably clean great food but the highlight was the outstanding service. Special thanks to Linzi for the late night rescue/pickup after a taxi disaster, you want above and beyond, thank you so much! We had a wonderful anniversary stay and would highly recommend to anyone thinking of staying in the Cotswolds.

The Highway has been one of the highlights of our travels to date. From the exceptional tapas menu, bar service, to the cosy bedrooms full of character, you can’t go wrong booking this place to stay located on the high street in the centre of everything. Most outstanding was the staff who went above and beyond to make our stay an amazing one. Special thanks to Rebecca for sourcing anniversary flowers and chocolates and to Linzi for rescuing us when the taxi service left us stranded!

I had a truly wonderful stay at the Highway Burford Hotel. From the moment I arrived, I felt warmly welcomed and at home. The hotel is spotless, very well kept, and has such a cozy, personal charm. I especially want to thank the two ladies at the front desk for their kindness and professionalism. I arrived very early in the morning, well before check-in, and they went out of their way to accommodate me. They even offered to store my luggage so I could enjoy wandering around Burford without any hassle. The staff’s hospitality, attention to detail, and genuine care made all the difference. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Burford—you’ll feel like family here.

Loved the (small) bar here. We visited a couple of times for drinks. Nice choice of drinks. Friendly service. Dogs welcome. Would like to return and visit the restaurant for tapas.

We had THE BEST time at The Highway!! The food was absolutely incredible — every part of the Sunday Roast was full of flavour and beautifully presented. We shared the pork belly and steak which was perfectly cooked, and all the trimmings were just delicious (and lots of it!!) The service was just as impressive: friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. It’s clear the staff really care about creating a great atmosphere and memorable dining experience. We can’t wait to come back!!
